WHO ARE WE? The Haven Center was established in 1995 by a committee of community individuals spear headed by Mrs. Willa Tramble. The committee later became the first Board of Directors. They saw a need for a center that will help youth avoid risk behaviors such as teen pregnancy, delinquency and truancy. The Haven Center was created to develop youth by equipping them with knowledge, through activities and workshops. The program activities help promote healthy esteem, character enhancement, and positive leadership training.
Haven Center programs focuses on four aspects for youth and their families:
- Developmental training;
- Education and mentoring;
- Health care referrals and assistance;
- And family crisis intervention assistance.
The Haven Center acts as a liaison for youth and families to help them receive needed resources for a more healthy and positive lifestyle.
OUR GOAL is to educate, enhance, equip, and empower youth through providing healthy alternatives activities before they engage in risk behaviors.
OUR MISSION is to provide a safe place for youth and their families; thus enabling them to become builders of the community; to enhance the quality of life for youth through education and activities related to preventing risk and negative behaviors; to help build esteem and character in youth by equipping them through developmental training to become healthy productive individuals socially, physically, and emotionally.
